Both Southern and Western façades are Gothic. Both have Romanesque gargoyles. The Western one also has fine archivolts framing a tympanum supported by a grooved pillar, over which, on a corbel, an image of the Virgin is seated.

The tower is divided into several sections of different heights. It's finished at the top with four pinnacles that shape the characteristic skyline of the monumental area of Cáceres. It dates back to 16th century, mainly made by the master Pedro Marquina. A bronze statue of St Peter of Alcántara, by the Extremaduran contemporary sculptor Pérez Comendador, is located in its corner recess.

Into the church there's a magnificent plateresque altarpiece in cedar wood, dated from 1551. It's undoubtedly the most beautiful one in the city, made by the artisans Guillén Ferrant and Roque Balduque.
