Palace of Golfines de Abajo

This beautiful Palace incorporates elements from different periods. The oldest part of the building is the great tower on the right, with machicolations and segmental arch windows.

Its portal has a rounded arch with radiating voussoirs. On top of which there are two windows, the highest of them is a Gothic mullioned window, with a coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs on the mullion. The whole ensemble is framed by a broken bulleted alfiz.

The entire façade is crowned by a Plateresque cresting, finely chiseled in granite, formed by griffins and vegetal ornaments faced each other between the balusters.

Golfines de Abajo's family members were Government Officials during the reign of the Catholic Kings and their successors. There was the Kings Headquarter when they came to Cáceres.
