Mansion of the Sun (Casa del Sol)

The most interesting thing of the Gothic Mansion of the Sun is its façade which is based on its lopped tower. The portal has a rounded arch over which there's a beautiful coat of arms of the Solís' family. The whole ensemble is framed by an alfiz which is decorated with a zoomorphic gargoyle on its left side. Upper the remains of the Tower there's a granite balcony with arrow slits, supported by three corbels.

In this manor house opposite St Matthew's Church lived Don Michael Solís Ovando (Grand Chancellor of of St. John's Order and Ambassador of it in Madrid) as well as their brothers Friar Don Juan de la Rocha Solís (St John's bailiff) and Don Francisco de Solís Ovando (Chair, member of the Council of Castile and War Advisor).
