House of the Monkey

House of the Monkey or Cáceres-Nidos is a Gothic mansion built in the late 15th or early 16th centuries. It's remarkable its round arched portal with radiating voussoirs, over which there's a superb family coat of arms, framed by an alfiz, over which a beautiful ogee arched window opens.

On the left of the portal, on the building corner, there's a lopped tower. Its granite courtyard is interesting because of its construction based on segmental arches and granite columns.

This mansion takes its name from a chained monkey which is sculpted in the beginning of the stairs.
