Chapel of Peace

The Chapel of Peace is a 16th-century construction subsequently reformed in both 18th and 20th centuries, being completely rebuilt in this last reform. From the Main Square you can see the soft gradation of its volumes as you go by the stairs up to the Arch of the Star.

Completed in 1750, it stands over the remains of a Renaissance chapel dedicated to St Benedict. Its interior boasts an image of the Virgin of Peace, sculpted by Pedro Correa, from Valladolid, in the year 1736.

On the gates that close the four arches of the entrance of the temple and its small atrium are four wrought-iron coats of arms, each of them are oval shaped with a crowned eagle.
